If you have suffered from trauma, and think you may have PTSD, please read through the information below to learn more about PTSD and the therapies offered.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based behavioral therapy that helps individuals develop psychological flexibility by accepting difficult emotions, detaching from unhelpful thoughts, and committing to values-driven actions. Rather than avoiding distress, ACT encourages individuals to engage with their experiences in a way that reduces suffering and promotes resilience.
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidenced based therapy for children and teens (3-18) that have experienced trauma(s) and meet criteria for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In TF-CBT a therapist and a parent/guardian help a child/teen address the impact of trauma on emotions, thoughts, and behavior, as well as improving parent's/guardian's distress, parenting skills, and child/parent interactions.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help individuals process and heal from distressing memories and traumatic experiences. It utilizes bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, to facilitate the brain’s natural ability to reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity. EMDR is particularly effective for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related conditions, helping individuals reduce distress, reframe negative beliefs, and develop healthier emotional responses. Extensive research supports its efficacy, showing significant improvements in trauma recovery and emotional well-being.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy
Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) is an evidenced based therapy used to treat adults that have experienced trauma and are diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PE helps clients confront fears by gradually approaching memories, feelings, and situations associated with the trauma(s) the client experienced.
